Google Sheets time tracker
A time tracker that writes your hours to Google Sheets.
Start tasks from your Mac’s menu bar. When the day is done, Hourbloom writes the hours and tasks into your client’s Google Sheet in one click, after showing what will change.
Coming soon to the Mac App Store
Google Sheets sync is part of Pro — try it free for 14 days.
No more copying hours by hand.
Your client sees the hours you tracked, and you see every change before it’s written.
A sheet in one click
Create the client’s sheet from Hourbloom’s template, or connect one made from it in Google’s file picker.
Every change shown first
Each day is marked new or changed before anything is written. Untick a day to leave it as it is.
Hand-typed days stay yours
Days you typed in the sheet yourself are never overwritten unless you tick them.
Totals that add up
The template counts hours, days worked, amounts, payments and what’s left for every month.
Only the sheets you choose
Hourbloom opens only sheets it created or you picked, and writes from your Mac straight to Google.
Plain words for the client
Each day gets its hours and tasks written out, like “2 h 25 min - Client feedback”.
How it works
From the menu bar to the client’s sheet.
Set it up once for each project.
Connect Google
Open Settings → Connections and press Connect next to Google Sheets. Sign in on Google’s page and allow access.
Choose the client’s sheet
In Projects, open the project and under Client’s sheet press Create Sheet or Connect Existing.
Write to Sheet
Track as usual. Then press Sheet in the panel or in Projects, check the days and press Write to Sheet.
What’s in the template
- A monthly summary: hours, days worked, amount, paid and what’s left
- A daily log with every day of the month, its hours, tasks and amount
- Your hourly rate in one cell; the formulas do the rest
- A Paid tab for the client’s payments
Hourbloom writes only each day’s hours and tasks. Formulas, payments and everything else in the sheet stay yours.
Questions about Google Sheets.
Do I need a Google account?
For the sync, yes. Hourbloom asks Google only for your email and access to the sheets it creates or you pick. Everything else works without an account.
Can I use a sheet I already have?
If it’s laid out like Hourbloom’s template, yes: pick it in Google’s file picker. A sheet without the template’s daily log can’t be written to, and Hourbloom says so.
What if I edit the sheet by hand?
Your edits win. Hourbloom marks those days and leaves them as they are unless you tick them, or you can take the sheet’s hours into the app.
Is Google Sheets sync free?
It’s part of Pro: $4.99 a month, $29.99 a year or $59.99 once, with 14 days free on the monthly and yearly plans. Time tracking itself is free.
Does it work with Excel or Numbers?
Not directly: Hourbloom writes to Google Sheets. For Excel or Numbers, export your entries as a CSV in Settings → Data.
Make every hour count.
Hourbloom is a menu bar time tracker for freelancers who bill by the hour.
